Introduction

Prof. Ahmed Seffah is a professor of software engineering and a pioneer in Human-Centered Software Engineering—a term he coined in 2001. His research focuses on Human-AI Interaction, Social-Cyber-Physical Systems, and sustainability-oriented software design. Over a 25-year academic career in Canada and Europe, he has founded three research labs, published 8 books and 200+ papers, and contributed to the creation of 15+ academic programs.

He has supervised 15 PhD students, many of whom are now academics or industry leaders. Prof. Seffah has led major research projects funded by EU Horizon, Erasmus+, NSERC, and CFI, and has supported educational initiatives for sustainability through design thinking.
